Almost everyone has heard of them, but is HostGator a good web hosting company to host a website with?

The answer varies. Many webmasters both love and hate HostGator. In general, HostGator offers average web hosting services and seems to be less favorable than other web hosts. HostGator is a well known name and many individuals new to web hosting end up purchasing a plan from them simply because they are familiar with the name. While HostGator is the 2nd largest web hosting company in the world, it also has the highest customer dropout rate, with only 3 out of every 4 customers leaving HostGator.

In conclusion, HostGator is an average web host. Their hosting services are a bit over priced and can be a little difficult for beginners to use. However, HostGator is a brand name and still dominates the internet as a popular web host.

Is there an alternative to HostGator?

A better alternative to HostGator would be InMotion Hosting. InMotion is priced at about the same cost as HostGator, but is much faster and more reliable. They also have better customer support. InMotion is great for hosting both large and small business websites.
